David Roark is the newest full time member of the Terra Tech family, but in reality one of the oldest. David began his carrer at Terra Tech in 2000 as a part-time employee after school where he assisted with what ever he could. In the beginning David may be asked to do anything from wash cars of cut brush to assist the survey crew in the field. David was always eager to help with anything that he could and wanted to learn about whatever type of engineering work that he was exposed to. David has learned much during the time that he has been with Terra Tech. He began to assist in the lab with things like Standard Proctor Analysis of soils and concrete compression testing, and in the field with concrete testing such as slump, air entrainment and preperation of concrete cylinders. In July of 2003 David became a full time employee with the position of Laboratory/Quality Control. In this position David is responsible for the lab equipment condition and its use in field and laboratory testing. David's expertise is in concrete sampling and testing as well as soils testing with nuclear density gauge and laboratory methods.
David is a 2001 graduate of Grundy High School and is currently finishing up his Associates Degree in Arts & Sciences at Southwest Virginia Community College. David currently posesses the Virginia Department of Transportation Nuclear Safety certification and will be taking the classes for VDOT soils and concrete field certifactions this winter.
David's response to the question 'what do you like about working here?' was "the not so up-tight atmosphere and the flexibility and understanding attitude from the management staff and fellow workers."
In his off work hours David enjoys camping, bikeriding and boaing. David is not married but does enjoy spending his time with long time girlfriend Michelle.
David resides with his parents on Strip Bench Road in Vansant, Virginia.
