Mining Engineering
Mining engineering is where you find our roots as an engineering firm. From there, we have branched out into multiple disciplines. To properly manage energy resources in our country and in the world, innovative engineering and recovery techniques are needed to allow continued mining of valuable reserves. Our engineers have served their entire careers in the Appalachian coalfields and have become accustomed to analyzing complicated reserve layouts, developing recovery techniques and methods and to monitor and assess impact of these operations on the land around them.
Operational plans to maximize recoverable reserves are developed with the client’s methodology and equipment resources in mind. Such plans include utilizing the surrounding communities’ needs in reclamation planning processes and developing agricultural, industrial, commercial and residential areas in the overall post-mine use plan. Terra Tech’s staff is well versed in all facets of the mining industry from support design for haul roads, and sedimentation ponds, to reclamation permitting, mine planning, geological exploration, reserve evaluation and property management. Trouble-shooting difficult mining conditions and developing solutions to address them is another service we offer. Using digital terrain mapping and existing mine mapping, reserves can be evaluated as to their future potential and how existing operations may affect long-term environmental stability of the region. Many projects performed at Terra Tech involve the reclamation of abandoned mined land (AML) features through state and federally funded projects. In-house testing and surveying services help accommodate evaluation methods using the latest in engineering technology. |
